By Jaime Agostino, VP – sales, marketing and education, Vizo Financial
You know what makes humans distinctly, well, human? To me, it’s our ability to tell stories. Our desire to share experiences, feelings and life lessons with each other through storytelling sets us apart.
And the beauty of our stories is that everyone has a different one to tell. We each have achievements we’re proud of, moments we wish could do over and people who change the entire course of our lives. Just think about your own story…what are some of the highlights?
For me, my story isn’t as flashy as, say, a movie star or an astronaut. I grew up in a working class home with my parents and my sister. I went to college and earned a degree in marketing (and am currently working on my master’s!). I got married to a loving husband and had a family. But another thing that has been a constant in my story and has left a lasting impression on my life is the credit union movement.
Even before I graduated college, I was working for credit unions. As of today, I’ve been with Vizo Financial for 23 years. I’m even proud to call myself a Credit Union Development Educator, CUDE. Suffice it to say, credit unions have been a HUGE part of my life…and I’m not the only one.
That’s why, every year, I’m so incredibly excited to participate in #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day! This very special one-day celebration is all about credit union stories and sharing them with the world. In fact, it’s our opportunity, and maybe even our duty, to shout from the rooftops the “why” behind our amazing movement.
Credit unions touch the lives of so many people in a variety of ways – from offering loans for milestones like buying a home or going to college to paying for everyday items like groceries and gas. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, because credit unions also play a huge role in funding our communities, allowing businesses to thrive, promoting financial literacy and so much more. These are the stories we are meant to tell on #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day, which is coming up soon on July 26, 2024.
The Story of #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day
This very special day was first held in 2021, and it was born from a single simple idea: to spread the word about the positive impact of credit unions. And what better way to harness the power of our message than through social media?
The Mission
To bring the credit union movement together on a single day with the purpose of inspiring authentic and high-energy conversation about why we love our credit unions.
The Rules
On July 26, 2024, use the hashtag #ILoveMyCreditUnion across social media platforms to share why you love your credit union.
The Tools & Resources
Check out the #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day website at ilovemycreditunion.social. There are tons of resources under the Tools tab, including social media graphics, messaging templates, design tools, printable promos, video pieces, engagement ideas and more.
Gather Your Stories!
Now that you know how #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day works, it’s time to start gathering up your stories. I’m doing the same! Once you have them, prepare for July 26 and be ready to let them shine on social media using that very special hashtag, #ILoveMyCreditUnion.
Credit union lovers, I’m calling on you to join me in this very special celebration. We don’t just see the good our institutions do from the sidelines, we live it. So, in that spirit, let’s all be the best storytellers we can possibly be on #ILoveMyCreditUnion Day in the name of a movement that has been such a profound and rewarding part of my story…and that of so many others.

Inform, educate, entertain. Those are the goals Vizo Financial had in mind when creating our video series. Credit unions are invited to watch all of our videos – which cover everything from workplace culture to FOMC news – to learn something new and maybe even laugh a little.
Being a partner to our credit unions means more than just providing products and services – it’s also about encouraging the educational development of credit union employees, volunteers and the movement. The Corporate has created several videos designed specifically for credit unions on topics from ERM to ALM to the ACH Network. Watch these videos anytime, anywhere!
Your credit union may be eligible for a variety of grants and/or loans that would help you complete specialized training, or a specific project or initiative focused on items like offering a new product or service; financial literacy; opening a student branch; improving the credit union’s technology or website; building a mobile application; increasing cybersecurity; professional staff development; or disaster relief. But where to begin? On our Grants, page of course! We provide links and information about grants available through various credit union foundations and organizations, all in one place!
One of our core values here at Vizo Financial is Continue to Learn, and, as you know, one of the eight cooperative principles is Education, Training and Information. So, it’s safe to say that education is very valuable to us, and we are dedicated to encouraging the educational development of our credit union employees and volunteers. Through Vizo Financial's strategic partnerships, your credit union has access to additional educational resources. Search this page for additional learning opportunities from our partners and industry allies.
In addition to sharing educational experiences available to you from our partners, we also provide details on upcoming events through the many leagues, associations and foundations within our footprint. Check out what they have to offer for even more educational opportunities. After all, when we learn and grow together, we can strengthen the credit union movement.
Well, there you have it – all the education resources you could possibly want in a single, user-friendly place. What are you waiting for? Go visit our Education page now!

We’re wishing a happy one-year anniversary to the FedNow® Service! We can’t believe it’s already been a year since this 24/7/365 instant payments rail through the Federal Reserve was officially launched.
Even more so, we’re happy to have been a part of the instant payments scene since the FedNow Service rolled out their pilot program. Yes, Vizo Financial and our CUSO, MY CU Services, are set up as a certified correspondent to help you bring this revolutionary instant payments option to your credit union. How do we do that? Through settlement and receipt of instant payments through the FedNow Service.
Settlement Services
This option gives your credit union the opportunity to settle instant payment transactions with the Corporate acting as the credit union’s correspondent.
Credit unions will be able to access settlement information via our EFT platform in Zephyr, our online member access network. All instant payments activity through the FedNow Service will be listed under the Instant Pay Manager. Here, credit unions will see itemized payments posting to their settlement account or their Instant Payments subaccount at the Corporate.
Through these settlement services, your credit union can take advantage of our connection to the Federal Reserve so you don’t have to add the burden of 24/7 account monitoring. Let us do that on your behalf to save you time and resources.
Receive Services
This participation type allows credit unions to receive payments. Using the interface between the credit union’s core processor and the Corporate’s payments service provider, the credit union will be able to receive instant payments via the FedNow Service.
Instant payment transactions will arrive at the Corporate’s payments service provider – the connection point – from the Federal Reserve. The payments service provider will then route the posting to the credit union’s core processor.
The posting will automatically occur via the core interface and go to MY CU Services’ payments service provider, so the payment will post to the member’s account with instant funds availability.
For convenience, credit unions will be able to access payment information relating to received credit transfers via the Instant Pay Manager within our EFT platform.
Connect With Our Instant Payments Expert!
If you’re looking at your instant payment options, we have someone special for you to meet – our in-house expert! She is the go-to person for all information about instant payments and the FedNow Service through the Corporate. From understanding the mechanics of those settlement and receive services we just talked about to helping you find your own path with the FedNow Service, our expert has all the instant payments details for you. All you have to do is reach out (which should be pretty easy – just click the button below)!
Vizo Financial continues to make a positive difference in our local communities. Here’s what we’ve been doing over the past few months:
Exploring Why Workshop Sponsor
Vizo Financial was the exclusive sponsor of the Exploring Why Workshop in partnership with the CrossState Credit Union Foundation. The Exploring Why Workshop is an experiential training program that credit unions and system partners can use to help employees connect to the credit union difference and discover new and better ways to drive value for their members and the organization. Through our sponsorship, the workshop was offered for free to all credit union employees across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The half-day virtual session was hosted by the National Credit Union Foundation.
Walk for Children’s
Vizo Financial sponsored and had participants in this year’s Walk for Children’s event to benefit Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, which is a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital. The event was held in person at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, as well as virtually, on Saturday, June 8. This event has been raising money and awareness for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since 2016 and has brought in millions of dollars for medical education, Child Life resources, social work and music and art therapies, among other things.
Vizo Financial had a total of 32 walkers, including employees, family members and friends, participate in the event. We also acted as a Match Sponsor for Walk for Children’s, meaning that the Corporate matched donations of up to $5,000 for the event. With employees and their families, we collectively contributed $5,880 in support of the event.
Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to the 2024 Walk for Children’s event for helping to raise over $1 million!
DE Day of Service
On June 12, six of Vizo Financial’s credit union development educators, CUDEs, participated in the DE Day of Service by volunteering at the Midwest Food Bank in Middletown, Pa. Midwest Food Bank is a volunteer-based national food bank. Currently, the organization distributes nearly $34 million worth of food to over 2,200 non-profit organizations each month and has 12 locations throughout the U.S., East Africa and Haiti. Our DEs spent the morning bagging 1,400 lbs. of macaroni for distribution and assisting with order pickups for various organizations.
CMN Hospitals Telethon Viewing Party
Three members of Vizo Financial’s staff were granted the opportunity to attend CMN Hospital’s 40th Annual Telethon for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. During the viewing party, Miracle Families shared their stories, interacted with one another, played games and watched as the donations rolled in for a grand total of $361,528!
11th Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest
We’re only a little over a week away from our 11th annual Hot Dog Eating Contest for CMN Hospitals at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pa. The contest – which has raised nearly $60,000 for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital over the past decade – will once again be virtual, so we are welcoming credit unions across the country to join in the fun as contestants, sponsors and supporters of CMN Hospitals on July 18, 2024.

Did you know there are approximately 11,651 financial technology startups throughout the United States, with many ranging all the way from person-to-person (P2P) and wealth management apps to stock trading and e-commerce sites? That’s according to a 2023 study conducted by Statista.
With the ability to deeply understand the ins and outs of both the financial and technology industries, these fintechs are positioned to grow even more in the coming years. In fact, they’re already profoundly reshaping financial services through innovation, member-centric value propositions, collaborative business models and so much more! That then begs the question: How many of these fintechs has your credit union looked at – 20, 10, even five? And moreover, how is your credit union embracing this evolving service landscape?
If you’re not sure how to answer either of those questions, that’s okay. We’ve got you covered! Vizo Financial is here to serve as your link to these fintechs.
During each 30-minute quarterly Tech Talk, we will showcase a few fintechs that we believe may bring benefits to your institution. We highly recommend that you use these 30 minutes to seek out the technology and innovation that may help revolutionize how you serve your members. And you never know, one of these may end up holding the key to innovation for your credit union because if your credit union isn’t already looking at fintechs, then you could be falling behind.
Your members are expecting the latest modern solutions, after all, so make sure you’re prepared to provide them by joining us for Vizo Financial’s 2024 Quarterly Tech Talks!

On June 5, 2024, Joe Reiner, corporate account manager, enjoyed spending some quality time with our members at the MACUMA Night Out event to watch the Washington Nationals take on the New York Mets at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. It was a fun time for all!
Ty Snavely and Steve Houser, corporate account manager, attended the NEPA Chapter Golf Outing on June 7 at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville, Pa. Ty played in a foursome with Mike Thomas from Service 1st FCU, Tom Smith from Choice One Community CU and Tracey Carey from Highway FCU. Steve Houser’s foursome included Ron Ferrance from New Cumberland FCU, Debbie Mozal from Choice One Community FCU and Ray Hebden. Thanks for a great game, everyone!
Joe Reiner, Andi Crockett, Jeanne Heath, Jaime Agostino, Jeff Stoner and Fred Eisel attended the MD | DC Credit Union Association’s CONNECT 2024 Annual Meeting from June 9-11, 2024. In addition to exhibiting at the event, complete with our prize wheel, and discussing our role as a correspondent for The FedNow® Service, Vizo Financial also acted as a two-fold sponsor for the event. As the Crab Feast sponsor, we were a big part of the highly-anticipated event kickoff – a traditional Maryland crab feast held at Hooper’s Crab House in Ocean City, Md. How amazing are these crab mallets? We also acted as a break sponsor, where members of the Corporate’s staff handed out ice cream novelties dressed in hats and aprons. What a fun event!
Corporate account manager, Steve Houser, and VP – sales, marketing and education, Jaime Agostino, said hello to the Sunshine State as they made their way to the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates’ Southeast Credit Union Conference & Expo in Orlando, Fla., on June 12-14, 2024. They played Vizo Financial trivia and answered lots of questions for attendees during the event. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us!
Jaime Agostino, VP of sales, marketing and education, and Joe Reiner and Ty Snavely, corporate account managers, attended MC FCU’s fourth annual charity golf tournament in Elysburg, Pa., on June 21, 2024. The tournament raised money for three charitable organizations: Camp Koala, Getting Ahead Foundation and Agape. Vizo Financial was the beverage cart sponsor, so Ms. Agostino traveled the course handing out beverages to all participants. Thanks FORE the opportunity to give back, MC FCU!
Vizo Financial sent a team to the Harrisburg Chapter Bocce Ball Tournament on Saturday, June 22. The team included Jaime Agostino, Cindy Hagan, Michelle Fludovich and Belinda Mumma. Their spouses also joined in on the fun and formed their own team. While neither team made it past the first round, everyone had a wonderful time and plan to play more bocce ball!
Joe Reiner, corporate account manager, traveled to Richmond, Va., for the Virginia Credit Union League’s Emerge Conference on June 25-27, 2024.
