Did You Know: Why an ACH Contingency is Invaluable

Business continuity and disaster recovery plans are common practice for credit unions. They can be helpful in so many situations like severe weather, data breaches or even a global pandemic…spoiler alert, it was NOT a drill.

But the big question is, does your credit union have backup plans in place for basic operations if systems were to go down or vendors were to experience an outage? For services such as ACH, delays and disruptions aren’t just inconvenient – they could be detrimental to your credit union’s member relationships and reputation because people rely on those funds to pay bills, buy groceries, etc.

Recent history has shown that the impact of an ACH processor outage can be far reaching and severe, not just for your credit union, but also for your members that depend on timely processing of electronic payments. If your credit union relies on a single ACH processor – such as a core provider or third-party vendor – and an outage does occur, you may be at risk of a single point of failure.

Luckily, having an ACH contingency option can be the antidote that brings peace of mind to all parties…and we know just where you can find one.

MY CU Services, the payment CUSO of Vizo Financial, offers an ACH contingency solution for credit unions that currently utilize an ACH provider outside of the Corporate. This solution will allow you to process and deliver ACH payments through an alternative source.

Here are just a few reasons why our ACH contingency solution is invaluable:

  • It negates any outages that stem from technical issues, security incidents, natural disasters or equipment failures with your primary ACH provider.
  • It ensures operational resiliency and mitigates reputational risk.
  • It’s a much more cost-effective option compared to regulatory penalties, lost revenue and additional risk-related costs.

As member-focused institutions with a mission of people helping people, the inability to meet member expectations isn’t a reality any credit union wants to face. And it’s a risk you don’t have to accept with MY CU Services’ ACH contingency solution.

Explore your ACH contingency option with us today – contact our sales team at sales@mycuservices.com!

Security Corner: Vulnerability Scanning & Penetration Testing

Risk is no joke…especially not when attacks and security concerns are on the rise.

According to Fortra, an industry-leading cybersecurity company, and their 2025 State of Cybersecurity Survey, businesses are increasingly aware of threats including phishing, SMS phishing, malware/ransomware, social engineering, data loss and emerging technologies.

As these growing threats reframe the mindset of credit union leaders and risk teams, it’s important to recognize and, more importantly, utilize the tools that are available to help your institution stay better protected.

Two of those tools are vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, both of which are available to you through Vizo Financial and our partnership with Fortra.

Vulnerability Scanning
Our vulnerability scanning service is an automated process that scans your institution’s networks and systems to look for known security gaps and holes that could put your credit union at risk. We will then generate a report prioritizing remediation efforts based on the severity of each threat and the relative risk that your credit union assigns to each of your assets.

Penetration Testing
Then there’s penetration testing, which provides a more in-depth look at those threats. It does that through a simulated attack, via ethical hacking, to identify and provide deeper insight into the actual business risks of vulnerabilities that are present on your systems and networks. The tests will demonstrate how an attacker can exploit the vulnerabilities within your infrastructure and use compromised areas to gain access to sensitive member information.

Why Scan & Test?
With your reputation, sensitive member data and regulatory compliance at stake, it’s better to stay ahead of the risks. By combining vulnerability scanning and penetration testing services, you can see the big picture – from the small gaps to the major system vulnerabilities – which will allow you to be more proactive in your cybersecurity efforts and, ultimately, reduce risk exposure.

Vizo Financial and Fortra understand that risk isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation, but we do know that protecting your institution is non-negotiable for every credit union. Let us help you build a more secure future with our vulnerability scanning and penetration testing services!

Focus Spotlight: Empower Your Member Growth with the Vertice AI Solution

The carousel of progress continues to spin. And in the modern world, it moves faster than ever before. That means growth is a necessity, not just a nicety.

But it’s a difficult prospect – how do you expand your membership when there are so many options for financial services out there, and, moreover, how do you achieve that growth sooner rather than later?

The good news is, Vizo Financial has developed a trusted partnership with Vertice AI to deliver a solution that empowers your credit union to achieve both of those goals.

To put it simply, the Vertice AI solution bridges the gap between your valuable existing data and actionable insights – no data scientists required. By joining the two together, credit unions gain the ability to rapidly unlock the value of their member data, identifying opportunities for personalized member engagement and product offers to support sustainable member growth.

Let’s take a closer look at just how the Vertice AI solution works:

  • It brings data together to create a single view of member participation over multiple years for continuous learning and engagement.
  • It helps you understand the depth of participation for each member, including details such as product ownership, tenure, total assets, interactions, etc.
  • It uses analytics to identify common member journeys, allowing you to determine who is most likely to need what services and when.
  • It allows you to score and index the economic participation of each member against the entirety of the membership with a Member Product Participation (MPP) score.
  • Bringing these in-depth member insights to the surface, the solution sets the stage for your credit union to grow engagement through personalized marketing opportunities.

Sound too good to be true? It’s not – and we have a case study to demonstrate the very real results of proven member growth. Check out the Vertice AI Case Study on our website to see how this solution has made a huge impact for Duke University FCU.

For additional information on the Vertice AI solution and how it can work for your credit union’s member growth initiatives, visit our Vertice AI page or contact your corporate account manager at accountmanagers@vfccu.org.

Empower your member growth with Vizo Financial and Vertice AI today!

Community Involvement

Vizo Financial continues to make a positive difference in our local communities. Here’s what we’ve been doing over the past few months:

Financial Reality Fairs
In April and May, several employees from Vizo Financial volunteered at local financial reality fairs hosted by Belco Community CU and Utilities Employees CU. Financial reality fairs are an interactive financial education exercise for students. These hands-on experiences allow students to identify their career choice and starting salaries, then complete a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing and food. Additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel are factored in as well.

DE Day of Service
Nine of Vizo Financial’s Credit Union Development Educators (DEs) participated in a DE Day of Service on May 13 by volunteering with the Midwest Food Bank in Middletown, Pa. The national DE Day of Service is always held on the second Wednesday of June, and it is a way for DE alumni to transform their training and its teachings into community service to empower our members and strengthen communities. As this is a busy season for many of our DEs, the Vizo Financial group organized a separate volunteer initiative to get everyone to work together in the name of celebrating our DE designations. Through our day of service, our DEs prepared 2,200 individual bags of Corn Flakes for those needing a nutritious breakfast to start their day!

This year’s award ceremony was held during a lunch event on May 21 at the CrossState Credit Union Association’s Annual Convention in Bethlehem, Pa. Congratulations to all the 2025 winners and thank you for furthering the mission of financial literacy programs.

Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals Telethon
Vizo Financial sponsored the 41st Annual CMN Hospitals Telethon at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pa., which took place from June 2-5. The event aired throughout the week and concluded with a one-hour special. In addition, a few of our staff members attended the Telethon’s Watch Party during the evening special on June 5. We love supporting CMN Hospitals! #forthekids.
